Empire state of mind

You can't learn passion and talent - you either have it or you don't. Max Mutzke has both in abundance and is able to immediately captivate the audience. The shows with the SWR Big Band combine playfulness, spontaneity and virtuosity in such a unique, emotional way that it pulls the audience from their seats. In addition to Mutzke's hits such as Welt hinter Glas, Can ́t wait until tonight, there are songs from his current album Wunschlos süchtig as well as soul & pop classics such as Me & Mrs Jones or Empire state of mind. Whoever is kept on the edge of their seats is strapped in or completely resistant to rhythm. Look forward to a terrific evening with a concentrated powerhouse of charismatic voice and full big band sound. Now all that's missing is you!

Characteristic of Max Mutzke's showcase career is a constant artistic development with several chart placements. It all started with a small funk band. In 2004, he won a casting show that took him to the Eurovision Song Contest in Istanbul. There he took eighth place with "Can't wait until tonight". Ten years and six released albums later, Mutzke has established himself as one of the best singers in the German music landscape. With his album "Durch Einander" he even received the Jazz Platinum Award. He is also the only artist from a talent show so far who has been able to establish himself over the years and can boast a successful career. He enjoys the respect of the feuilleton as well as that of the general public or the local music scene - and that as a musician as well as a person. Max Mutzke is a much sought-after guest musician and so he has already played with many foreign bands and appeared as a "special guest" with the world-famous saxophonist Klaus Doldinger. In addition, he also takes care of the little ones. In 2012 he took part in Peter Maffay's musical "Tabaluga". In the composer competition "Dein Song" (Your Song) of the Kinderkanal and ZDF, he supported a candidate as "musical godfather". He also stood in front of the microphone for children's music productions such as "Giraffe Monkeys" or "Kindischer Ozean".
