When the R.E.T. Brass Band was launched in January 2014 after three years of preparation, this brass band with high performance standards did not come out of nowhere. At that time, it built on the brass band work already done at the Innsbruck Music School. By participating in national and international competitions, the ambitious musicians want to continuously develop the quality of their work and also make a name for themselves internationally. The ensemble, which consists exclusively of Tyroleans, won the first Austrian brass band competition in the "Challenge Section" in its founding year and represented Austria at European competition level. In 2021, the R.E.T. Brass Band won the Austrian Brass Band Competition in the highest class, the Championship Section, and was thus able to secure participation in the European Brass Band Championships 2023 in Malmö. The R.E.T. Brass Band project unites orchestral musicians, freelance musicians, music teachers and music students. This brass band finds unity in diversity in its founding intention to perform demanding brass band literature at the highest musical level in concert. This is guaranteed by the leader of the brass ensemble, trumpeter Andreas Lackner, who works both at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and at the Music School of the City of Innsbruck. He is both an outstanding teacher and a brilliant musician who has made a name for himself in "early music" as well as in the brass band scene.

Andreas Lackner studied at the Mozarteum with Karl Steininger. Numerous performances in Europe, America and Asia bear witness to his busy concert schedule. with the Concentus Musicus Wien (Nikolaus Harnoncourt), the Vienna Academy, Il Giardino Armonico (Giovanni Antonini), la Fenice France, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (Rene Jacobs), the Toronto Tafelmusik, the New York Bach Ensemble, (Joshua Rifkin), The RareFruits`s Council (Argentina), the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, Balthasar-Neumann-Ensemble (Thomas Hengelbrock), Venice Baroque Orchestra, La Cetra Basel (Andrea Marcon) die Knödel, Wiener Symphoniker (George Pretre, V. Fedosejyev), Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Dresden Festival Orchestra (Ivor Bolton), and many more. Lecturer at master classes at the conservatories of Linz and Munich, as well as at the Musikhochschule München and at the Universität Mozarteum in Salzburg, at the Festwochen für Alte Musik in Innsbruck and at Attersee Barock , member of the Archipelago Project (courses at el sistema Acarigua /Venezuela, Baltimore/USA, Ariquipa /Peru, Colombia), Jacob Stainer prize winner 2006, winner of the European Youth Brass Band Championships 2019 with the Catch Basin Brass Band.
